gift certificates to the bar ($50 - 1st Place, $25 - 2nd Place)
drink tickets (redeemable for non-premium beers or well alcohol drinks) distributed at my discretion - usually by winning a special "drinking round" or for answering random toss-up questions or if I just feel like it because I like you or your team name
promotional tchotchkes/knickknacks/trinkets - e.g. keychains, glassware, t-shirts, beer koozies, etc.
Before the game, pick up a packet of answer sheets and a pen for your team from the podium.
Give your team a name and write it on your answer sheets so I have a way to identify you and keep track of scores. (Funny team names might earn you an extra point.)
I introduce the game and the rules before every game.
In each round, I show the questions on the television screens positioned around the bar and introduce each of the questions by reading through them one time. After I read through them once, I put the questions on a loop on the TV screens so you can revisit any questions that you want to think more about. When finished with your answers, turn in your answer sheets to me so I can start scoring.
Scoring is simple - every correct answer is worth +1 point toward your score. You do not lose points for wrong answers.
You will also (usually) have the option to "double" the point values for any individual answer. This is a great option for times when you are very confident that your answer is correct.
To "double" an answer, just mark the box on the right hand side of the trivia answer sheet (there is separate box for each answer line).
A correct doubled answer is worth 2 points. However, if you "double" an answer and you are incorrect, you will lose 1 point. (This is the only way that you can lose points).
